Industrial Heritage Industrial heritage is an area of Ireland’s heritage that was up until recently, for the most part, was largely overlooked. However, industrial heritage is now regarded as an important facet of the country’s history and thus more and more attention is no being made towards protecting industrial sites. Ireland’s industrial heritage dates mainly from the late 18th century and includes such sites as mills, watermills, windmills, roads, bridges, railways, canals, harbours, and service industries such as water, gas and electricity.
We have extensive experience on the research, recording and analysis of industrial heritage throughout Ireland. We have worked closely with local authorities to help identify, record and prepare policies for the treatment and protection of surviving elements. Many Industrial Heritage structures often form part of large re-development projects. We consult with developers/designers on the treatment and utilisation of the structures within proposed plans.
