Architectural Recording

fota-house.jpgCreating an architectural record of a historic building or structure involves the compilation of an inventory of all original and significant features, materials and the setting/curtilage of the structure.

The record is carried out in two parts. The external building record survey identifies the building form, materials, context and setting and gives descriptive notes on all surviving features and later interventions.  This also encompasses, where relevant, the structure’s curtilage and attendant grounds and any structures or features within them which contribute to the special interest of the protectedcts-095-04.jpg structure.

The second part is the INTERNAL architectural inventory which involves compiling a comprehensive interior architectural inventory on a room-by-room basis indicating their location and including all openings, joinery, plasterwork, fittings, fixtures and spaces of note.
